Maggie Stiefvater Interview

Maggie Stiefvater is so nice! We had a lot of fun on this interview and asked Maggie the questions you're dying to know the answers to. Go ahead and give it a listen. To access the show, click here.

Stiefvater (b. November 18,1981) is the author of many young adult and fantasy novels. She attended Mary Washington College, graduating with a B.A. in history. After graduating, she worked as a portrait artist, specializing in equestrian art; her art was collected internationally. She is married with two children.

In Maggie Stiefvater's Shiver, Grace and Sam found each other. Now, in Linger, they must fight to be together. For Grace, this means defying her parents and keeping a very dangerous secret about her own well-being. For Sam, this means grappling with his werewolf past... and figuring out a way to survive into the future. Add into the mix a new wolf named Cole, whose own past has the potential to destroy the whole pack. And Isabel, who already lost her brother to the wolves... and is nonetheless drawn to Cole. At turns harrowing and euphoric, Linger is a spellbinding love story that explores both sides of love - the light and the dark, the warm and the cold - in a way you will never forget.

Oh wow, I hadn't seen the trailer yet.

You really have to watch this. It's the trailer to Linger.

Maggie Stiefvater Interview coming up! Sunday July 25th 2010 1PM PST

So, I know you're all already excited for our first young adult (YA) author, Maggie Stiefvater. We are interviewing her for her new book Linger, the sequel to Shiver, the book before Forever. I like that there are two books before Forever. Tres poetic, no? These are werewolf books, but they are different from any I've ever read, and I think werewolves are fascinating. Like zombies only more romantic, like vampires only more animal. Anyway, in order to get you even more excited for this very exciting interview, I am linking her blog to this blog. Now you can get to know her before the show. She's an active blogger, and has some interesting things to say, so check it out.

Also, if you didn't know already, two days after this interview, Maggie will be appearing at Once Upon a Time Bookstore in Montrose, and I will be there to meet her! Will you? Talk about photo ops!

Hope to see you there! And I hope you'll be listening Sunday!

Coming up! Maggie Stiefvater and Aimee Bender!

Oh yes, we have some treats for you this summer. So far we have confirmed our interview with Maggie Stiefvater, our first young adult author, for her book Linger, the sequel to Shiver. I've started reading it, and I'm really enjoying it. It's funny how I've had this silly bias against young adult books for so long. It's like once I turned eighteen I got all elitist. Well, Linger has proven me wrong, and I'm really excited for the interview. As a special bonus, Stiefvater is actually coming in for an author event at the bookstore where I work- Once Upon a Time- in Montrose. That will be July 27th at 6pm at 2207 Honolulu Ave. Montrose, CA 91020. Prose and Cons will interview Stiefvater the Sunday before that, July 25th, at 1pm Pacific Standard Time. Write in with questions if you have any! You can listen to the show live through the facebook invite or the blog page or you can wait for it to be archived here.

Also, I just got a book in the mail that I've been waiting for what feels like eons to read. That's right: The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake! The new book by Aimee Bender! Now, Aimee Bender was my secret reason for wanting to do this show in the first place. I've wanted to pick her brain forever, and now I actually get to! And so can you! Send me questions. I'm sure she would love to answer them. I met her twice about a month ago, and she is so so so nice. It's ridiculous how wonderful she is. She lived up to my expectations and surpassed them. I just started reading Lemon Cake, and I love it, but we don't have a date picked out yet. It's possible she will come before Stiefvater. Stay tuned!

Susan Hayden

Justine and I were struck down by disease, so this show is two days late and still a little raspy. However, Susan Hayden was wonderful and an absolute pleasure to have on the show as she talked about her novel, Cat Stevens Saved My Life, her stories, plays, poems, and events.

Have fun listening to the show!
